Six Reasons to Be Thankful for Coastal Carolina

November is the month of giving thanks. While it’s important to be thankful year-round, this is when we stop to reflect on the bounties of life. For the many people who’ve made the move to Carolina coast, they can be thankful for living near beautiful beaches, having a slower pace of life, breathing the cleanest air in America, experiencing four seasons, and the moderate temperatures that allow outdoor activity year-round, all leading to a better quality of life.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, let us sit and reflect on the multitude of reasons why we love living by the beach! Here are six reasons this November (outside of the Thanksgiving table) to be thankful for living on the Carolina coast.

Beautiful Beaches

Perhaps most obvious feature of coastal Carolina to be thankful for is our sugar-white beaches. Few residential beaches can capture the organic picturesque beauty as well as ours do! Wrightsville Beach, Caswell Beach, Carolina Beach, Oak Island Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, Bald Head Island, and many more consistently capture the hearts of artists, tourists, and locals alike with their soft white sand and sparkling aqua-green waves. Best of all, locals can be thankful that several of these beaches are only a few minutes’ drive from their front doors.

The Cleanest Air

Take a deep breath and be thankful you live in the greater Wilmington area. Another reason to love where you live is that Wilmington was voted as one of the top five cities in the United States with the highest air quality by the American Lung Association. Reports show that our year-round emissions are low with short-term particle pollution. In layman’s terms, that means that living here is optimizes your health. People living in Wilmington and the surrounding area love enjoying life outdoors year-round.

Living an Active Lifestyle Year-Round

90% of days living in coastal Carolina are bright and sunny, with an average temperature above 60 degrees. This allows residents in the greater Wilmington area to enjoy an abundance of physical activities outdoors throughout the year. Mild weather on the Carolina coast is worth being thankful for, as it helps to better promote an active lifestyle with activities like bike riding, pickleball, cornhole, swimming, jogging, dog walking, and boating.

Experiencing Four Seasons

Now, you might be thinking, “Four seasons are everywhere!” But you would be surprised at how many locales don’t experience all four seasons of the year. Some locations in the Northeast experience summer then launch straight into winter, or places out west experience hot dry weather all year long. In coastal Carolina, we don’t have that problem. Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter are experienced in temperate and equal measure, leading to a more enjoyable environment that residents can take full advantage of year-long.

A Slower Pace of Life

One of the first things new transplants notice about living in our local area is that our communities don’t live the same rapid pace of life that others do. Living on the coast encourages you to slow down, stick your toes in the water or take a stroll along the beach. It’s a different lifestyle than other parts of the country, and one that many new homeowners fall in love with. The coastal Carolina day-to-day is about relaxing, recreational enjoyment, and taking time to make the most of each day.

All these qualities lead up to the biggest item to be thankful for in coastal Carolina, and that is a better overall…

When your quality-of-life improves, you tend to live life to the fullest. Coastal Carolina invites you to achieve the lifestyle that you want most. Whether you want to be active or a little more low-key, there’s something here for everyone.
