John Avera: Passionate About the Coast

Passionate About Coastal Living

People often use the analogy, “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” At Coastal Community Real Estate Group, our agents and team members make us who we are! If you’re looking to work with someone who’s passionate, genuine and loves meeting new homeowners, John Avera is the agent for you!

About John

Born in North Carolina but raised in the Myrtle Beach area, John considers himself a native Carolinian. The devotion John has for coastal Carolina isn’t only a matter of profession, it’s personal! “I like the coastal lifestyle offered in NC versus that of the Myrtle Beach area. I met my beautiful wife here and have two awesome stepsons. We like what the area offers regarding what we enjoy such as boating, fishing, surfing, golf, and the beaches. I also like all the dining options and live entertainment venues that Wilmington offers. I travel quite a bit, and our local airport is very easy in and out and we can fly anywhere in the world right from home,” John explains.

Why he Does It

John’s enthusiasm to the Carolina coast matches how all homeowners feel about the local area. For him, it’s not about selling coastal Carolina, the locale does a great job of that on its own. The greatest reward comes from creating personal connections. “I like meeting different people from different parts of the country (or world in some cases). I enjoy learning about their lives, what they do for a living, and figuring out how I can help them find the right home for the next phases of their lives.”

Wilmington Checks the Boxes

So why does John feel so strongly about the greater Wilmington area for interested transplants? It’s a combination of location, beaches, and a better quality of life. In John’s words, “Wilmington is the largest city on the NC coast. We have great beaches which is a waterman’s dream. Wilmington has a great culture, a university, highly rated medical facilities, outdoor amphitheaters, a performing arts center, an international airport, very accessible by vehicle, and more. When people start looking for an area, Wilmington tends to check a lot of boxes.”

Preferred Coastal Communities

John knows that a homeowner’s quality of life is immensely influenced by where they live. A community filled with welcoming people, amenities and an ideal location all come together to make Southeastern North Carolina an appealing hot spot for current and new locals. Our preferred communities of Brunswick Forest and The Home Place of Southport check off all the boxes to create a happy home. John elaborates on both communities by saying, “Brunswick Forest is a large community with pools, tennis courts, pickleball, gyms, and more. It also has a fantastic private golf course. All within minutes of all that Wilmington has to offer. The Home Place is a small, gated neighborhood and is designed to be easy maintenance free living with the amenities being the village of Southport and very close proximity to Oak Island.”

Do Your Research

For those who may be “on the fence” in their decision to move, John believes there’s no better time than the present to make it happen! However, before signing up for our Coastal Discovery Tour, do your research on each area you want to see. It makes the process easier and allows agents like John to best guide you in the right direction. “Have an idea of what you want in your next home. Make a list of the most important determining factors on making the move and your agent will be able to guide you smoothly through the process to finding the perfect next home.”
