How to Pick Your Perfect Community

You have decided to relocate, you have your sights set on a new town and are ready to find your new home in a new community! Now, to determine which community is right for you… This can be a tough decision, and there are lots of variables. Below are 5 helpful tips when selecting your new community.

Do you like the location?

The perfect home in the wrong location is not the perfect home! When selecting a community to move to, take the location into consideration. Is it near area conveniences that are important to you, such as grocery stores, restaurants, or medical offices? Would you prefer to be within a larger city or a smaller town? Are places you frequent easily accessible, such as the beach or different area attractions? Think about your day-to-day routine and see if the location of the community supports these things.

Does it have the amenities that are important to you?

Think about your lifestyle, and what amenities may be important to you. Do you exercise frequently? Fitness centers and tennis courts may be on your list of requirements. Enjoy being outside and enjoying the sunshine? You may want to look for a community with nice pools. Relocating with your furry four-legged friend? Walking trails and dog parks may be on your list of “must-haves.”

What community involvement is offered?

If you are moving to a brand-new area, making new friends will make your new house feel like home. Many communities have different resident groups and clubs where you can share your interests and meet new people. Community-sponsored resident events are common as well, like community concerts, and neighborhood happy hours. These are great things to investigate if you are interested in community involvement.

Work with a Community Expert!

Working with a community specialist can help you navigate which community is right for you. In addition to finding the perfect home, they can assist you in learning about your different options and focusing on your priorities! Working with a community specialist gets your questions answered and puts someone on your team while navigating the process.

Take a visit!

Our most important piece of advice: Visit! Many communities offer Discovery Tours to give you the “day in the life” experience. Spend a couple of days in the community to tour available homes, visit the amenities, and meet some of the residents. What better way to get a feel for what life would be like living there? Many communities offer event weekends as well, where you get to meet other people in the same boat as you!
