Fall in Love with the Beach This Season

When you think of a day at the beach, summertime likely comes to mind. With sunny days, beautiful warm weather, and more flexible schedules, summer is a great time of year to enjoy our Carolina coast. However, there are plenty of reasons to visit the beach in the fall as well! Some may even argue fall is the prime time for beachgoers to enjoy.

When visiting the beach in the fall, temperatures are mild but still warm enough to enjoy the outdoors! The ocean water is still warm enough for a dip in early fall, and temperatures are slightly cooler offering a pleasant experience. As the season changes, sunrises and sunsets begin to get more colorful as well!

With school back in session and summer coming to a close, the beach is less crowded. Enjoy more beach for your blanket with less tourists in town, and an easier commute to the coast with less traffic. The beach is quieter with more room to spread out, creating a peaceful experience.

Those who enjoy water sports will enjoy fallas well. Waterways are calmers with less boat traffic, creating an enjoyable experience for boaters. Anglersfrequent the coastal in fall as September begins the start of flounder season. Swells increase in the fall, producing more waves for surfers and the water is less crowded with swimmers.

With less beach traffic and larger swells, fall is a great time to find treasures such as sea glass, seashells, and even shark teeth. A variety of festivals occur in the fall such as the Annual Oyster Festivalin OceanIsle Beach and the Blue Crab Festival in Little River. Local restaurants scam down, making for a simplified and more peaceful dining experience, and popular seafood favorites are in season such as oysters.
